E. Toni Mountain
Associate Dean of Students
International Student Advisor, PDSO, RO

Dean Mountain has been in the field of International Education for more than 15 years. She earned her B.A. in Organizational Leadership, and M.S. in Management with a Human Resources Specialization from St. Thomas University. She is a seasoned student affairs’ professional, with a passion for meeting the needs of all students.  In addition to supervising International Student and Scholar Services, other areas of responsibility include: Commencement Services, New Student Orientation, Career Services, Judicial Affairs and Peer Mentors. 

She serves as the Chairperson of the Administrative Board for the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, a role she states enables her to utilize administrative skills acquired at St. Thomas to serve and manage the overall operation of the church. She is a member of the National Association of Foreign Student Advisors (NAFSA), Black/Multicultural Professionals in International Education, (BMcPIE), and NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. Dean Mountain loves traveling and has had the opportunity to travel to Africa, Asia, North and South America. She enjoys meeting people and embracing new cultures. Dean Mountain serves as the primary advisor for all Chinese and law F-1 students and facilitates the Exchange Visitor program.


 
Cristina C. López
Associate Director for Career Services
International Student Advisor, DSO

A native of Madrid, Spain, Cristina C. López joined the Student Services team at St. Thomas University in 2005. Ms. López brings 12 plus years of experience in Higher Education. Her international corporate experience is in the fashion industry at the LVMH group in Madrid, Spain. Cristina holds a B.B.A. in International Management, an MBA in International Business, and a Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management from St. Thomas University. Currently, she is completing a M.A. in Hispanic Media. Ms. López speaks English, Spanish, and French. She is presently learning Mandarin Chinese. 

In her Career Services role, Cristina provides career counseling, job search assistance, and support to students with their graduate school applications. She also acts as the liaison between students, alumni, and employers, and leads special projects. As an International Student Advisor, Cristina assists and advises graduate international students on immigration related issues; facilitates immigration paperwork and processes information in SEVIS. She conducts Optional Practical Training (OPT) workshops, and is part of the ISSS Committee. Finally, she coordinates New & Transfer Student Orientation programs, and assists with planning cross-cultural events, and informational workshops.


 
Adriana C. Menke 
International Student Advisor, DSO 

Adriana joined the International Student & Scholar Services Office as an International Student Advisor in 2012. She has been in the field of International Education since 2007. Prior to arriving at St. Thomas University she worked at Tilburg University in The Netherlands and was the Exchange Student Coordinator for the Erasmus Mundus Program. She holds a B.B.A. in Tourism and Hospitality Management from Universidad Mexicana in Mexico City, and is currently working on an A.S. in Translation and Interpretation Studies. She speaks Spanish, English, and Dutch.

She assists and advises all undergraduate international students on immigration and related issues; facilitates immigration paperwork and processes information in SEVIS (Student Exchange Visitor Immigration System). She is part of the ISSO Committee and serves in organizing orientation programs, cross-cultural events, and informational workshops.

 

Shantell Haynes 
Graduate Assistant 

Shantell Haynes is a graduate student pursuing her MS. in Marriage and Family Therapy.  Shantell began her role in the Office during the Spring of 2012. She exhibits professionalism, passion, and enthusiasm in all tasks.  Shantell provides support services to international students, scholars, and the Office of Student Affairs.

Shantell assists in the coordination and implementation of orientation programming for international students and short-term scholars. Shantell also assists in the coordination and implementation of diverse programming, including on and off campus events, for both international students and visiting scholars. She attends regular education and training webinars/workshops that has enabled her to better serve the diverse student population here at St. Thomas University. She serves as the liaison for International Student & Scholar Services Cultural Connection Program a mentoring program that works in collaboration with Biscayne College-Social Sciences Department.  


 
Roberto Linares 
Graduate Assistant 

Roberto is an international graduate student from Venezuela in pursuit of an MBA. During Roberto’s initial semester here at St. Thomas University he served as a volunteer in the University Writing Center (UWC), supporting the automation of the UWC appointment scheduling system, as well as developing a program to enable the UWC to generate analytical reports required by a Title V grant.

Prior to enrolling in the MBA program, Roberto was employed as a senior advisor in Transfer Pricing at the prestigious consulting firm Ernst & Young in Caracas, Venezuela.

Roberto joined the International Student & Scholar Services Office as a Graduate Assistant in early 2012. In this role, he serves as the student CADIVI advisor and provides support services to international students and the Office of Student Affairs.  Roberto also assists in the coordination and implementation of diverse programming, including on and off campus events, for both international students and visiting scholars. He is fluent in Spanish and English.
