POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary duties of the Coordinator for Glen Herbert Learning Center is to coordinate the tutoring center services, manage the schedules of tutors and serve as the primary contact for ESL students.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate the tutoring services of the Tutoring Center.
  2. Manage the schedule of the tutoring center schedules
  3. Assist the Library’s Assistant Director for Outreach and Public Services in coordinating the promotion of the tutoring center to the University community.
  4. Serve as the primary contact for ESL students.
  5. Coordinate ESL student services.
  6. Assist the Library’s Assistant Director for Outreach and Public Services in coordinating the promotion of the University’s ELS services.
  7. Assist the management and coordination of schedules of part-time tutors.
  8. Provide tutoring to students in areas of expertise.
  9. Provide students with assistance on APA, MLA, Chicago formatting regardless of academic level.
  10. Produce reports on Tutoring services for the Library director.
  11. Hire and manage student work study students in the Tutoring Center.
  12. Assist all students with tutoring services regardless of academic level;
  13. Provide a high level of customer service to all members of the University Community;
  14. Assist with University events that impact student success (i.e. graduation)
  15. Participate in all Library staff meetings and annual planning.
  16. Assist the Library Director and Assistant Director for Outreach and Public Services in strategic planning for tutoring services.
  17. Assist with review of student dissertations and compliance with the University Library Dissertation Manual.
  18. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree in psychology, English, mathematics, counseling, education or other discipline deemed relevant by the University and one (1) year of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of relevant experience in a higher education or similar setting;
  • Knowledge of APA /MLA / Chicago style.
  • Experience with trends and issues for academic tutoring services.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills;
  • Effective interpersonal skills to work with students from diverse backgrounds;
  • Strong self-directedness and initiative to promote student success with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to function effectively with multiple priorities, be well-organized and demonstrate effective time management;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Sound judgment and discretion in working with confidential information and student records;
  • Familiarity with ADA regulations;
  • Proficient use of technology applications and student information systems;
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer applications;
  • Competent, efficient and cooperative in handling routine tasks, as well as special projects/assignments.
