Visiting Assistant Professor – Computer Science

St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, FL, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science position starting Fall 2020. We are seeking a dynamic and collegial individual committed to teaching excellence and student involvement. The responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development, and outreach. The potential candidate is expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in our Masters of Science in Big Data Analytics program and the BS in Computer Science program. The successful candidate should demonstrate the potential for peer-reviewed scholarship and publications; and have experience with the use of discipline-specific software and technology in the classroom.

Applicants should have research and teaching experience in the following core areas:

  • Databases: SQL, NoSQL, Hadoop
  • Object Oriented Programming with Java and C++
  • Data Structures, Algorithms, and Software Engineering
  • Operating Systems and Computer Architecture
  • Data Science with R and Python Programming

Minimum qualifications: Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computational Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field. Prior teaching experience, working with graduate and undergraduate students, and online teaching delivery are preferred.
