FAFSA for 2019-2020 is now available!

IMPORTANT UPDATES WITH THE FAFSA APPLICATION FOR 2019-2020

First Update: Students will be able to complete their FAFSA via the myStudentAid App!

  • Students and parents may download the myStudentAid app in the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
  • The myStudentAid mobile app provides guidance on how to complete the FAFSA questions, making the overall process more positive, engaging and user-friendly.
  • The mobile app offers a customized experience based on the role of the user (student, parent, or preparer).
  • The 2019-2020 FAFSA mobile application is available as early as Oct. 1, 2018.
  • The earlier students apply, the earlier the indication of how much students and their families will be expected to contribute, which will help families with budgeting for the upcoming school year.

Second Update: Students and parents may use the Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DTR) to import their tax information for 2017.

  • The 2019-2020 FAFSA requires students and parents to provide their 2017 tax information and the IRS DTR simplifies this process.
  • Using the IRS DRT saves you time and effort:
  • You do not have to find your tax records.
  • You do not have to worry about making mistakes entering your tax information on your FAFSA®form.
  • You may not need to provide tax transcripts if you’re selected for verification.
  • If you choose to import your tax information into the FAFSA form, you’ll find that on the FAFSA site, instead of your tax information being displayed, you’ll see “Transferred from the IRS" in the appropriate fields.
