Foundation and Institutional Scholarships
Various scholarships have been established through the generosity of the university and philanthropic efforts of our Board of Trustees, donors, alums, businesses, and associations to reward and support student academic performance and achievement.

Academic Scholarships
*St. Thomas University offers a generous scholarship program. In order to be considered for most merit-based academic scholarships, students need to be first-time, full-time undergraduate students matriculating from high school in the 2023-2024 academic year. Students may not receive institutional scholarship awards that exceed the cost of tuition.
Up to $14,000/year
Through the Catholic High School Graduate Scholar, St. Thomas guarantees this scholarship as an academic award to all students who graduate from a private Catholic High School, and a 2.5+ GPA. The Catholic High School Graduate Scholar cannot be combined with additional academic scholarships.
Up to $13,000/year
The minimum criteria necessary to qualify for this award is a High School GPA of 3.6.
Up to $11,000/year
The minimum criteria necessary to qualify for this award is a High School GPA of 3.0+.
Up to $9,000/year
The minimum criteria necessary to qualify for this award is a High School GPA of 2.5+
GPA 3.6 + up to $13,000
GPA 3.0 to 3.59 up to $11,000
GPA 2.99 or below up to $9,000
Transfer Student Scholarships (Domestic Only)
GPA 3.6 + up to $10,000

General Scholarships
- Thomas University will guarantee 50% off tuition for 5000 Role Model Students, enrolling as new full-time undergraduate students (12-18 credits per semester).
- All students are eligible for an academic merit award such as the Presidential, Deans, or STU Scholarship. Merit Scholarships cannot be combined but students will be considered for additional general institutional scholarships if eligible.
- Students must indicate that they are 5000 Role Model participants at the time of application.
- Applying for admission to St. Thomas University serves as an application for the 5000 Role Models Guarantee.
The Campus Ministry Scholarship is designed for Catholic students that are interested in furthering their involvement in ministry and service. Students who are selected are required to be engaged in community service both on and off-campus as well as actively involved in the Campus Ministry Leadership Team. To be considered, students must be Catholic, demonstrate a commitment to community service, have a 2.8+ GPA, and continue to be active while enrolled at STU. This can be combined with merit awards. The “Florence Bayuk Educational Trust Scholarship” is a scholarship geared towards prospective undergraduate students at STU interested in pursuing an ethical legal education at the STU Law School.
The scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable grant, in the amount of $4,000 ($1,000 at the end of each semester based on keeping a minimum 3.0 GPA).
To qualify, prospective students must Be admitted to the BA. JD, 3 plus 3 Program.

The amount given is based on financial need, leadership, extra-curricular involvement, service, and institutional aid. Priority is given to recipients who are admitted and deposited before May 1st.
The Sibling Award is available to incoming students who have a sibling enrolled at St. Thomas University. Valued at up to 50 percent of tuition.

Award of up to 45% of tuition. Only children of STU Alumni are eligible.
State Scholarships, Grants, and Special Programs
The 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available at studentaid.gov. The FAFSA determines your eligibility for grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study programs and is the essential first step in receiving financial aid from federal, state, and private sources. Students who are residents of Florida should apply to be considered for state grant programs. Award information is automatically sent to St. Thomas University.
Students must file the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov in order to be considered for State Grants. Funds are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. File your FAFSA as soon as possible.
St. Thomas University accepts Florida Pre-Paid College Plan as a form of payment toward tuition. Florida Pre-Paid pays out at a state tuition rate per credit hour. For details visit: https://www.myfloridaprepaid.com
Florida residents must have their high school guidance counselor submit their information and authorization form to the Florida Bright Futures Program at the Florida Department of Education in Tallahassee. For further requirements contact your high school guidance counselor or visit the Bright Futures Program website.
Veteran students who plan to utilize their VA educational benefits should contact the VA certifying school official after the appropriate VA application form has been submitted to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Forms may be submitted to the VA online here.
The STU Access Grant offers additional funding based on need as determined by FAFSA, financial need, and institutional aid. Students must complete the FAFSA by January 15 and submit tuition deposit by May 1 for priority consideration.

Scholarship Renewal Criteria
Academic scholarships are renewable. In order to meet SAP students must complete a cum 2.0 GPA with 12 credits or more at the end of each term. Academic scholarships cannot be combined with other academic scholarships. Application for admission to St. Thomas University serves as an application for academic scholarships.
Note: Unless otherwise specified, the above scholarships are intended for undergraduate full-time day students ages 17 to 22 only. These scholarships can be used for tuition, bobcat experience fee, and room & board charges. St. Thomas University reserves the right to review and adjust original financial aid award packages, including university-funded scholarships and/or grants should you receive additional funding from federal, state, and private sources (e.g. FSEOG, FRAG, FSAG, Florida Bright Futures Program, etc.) that exceed the cost of tuition and dormitory fees (if applicable). All institutional aid is intended for full-time enrollment for the Fall and Spring semesters only. Recipients of multiple institutional awards including tuition discounts are eligible to receive the highest individual award only.
