Dr. Ferrero has taught Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Italian and Italian Literature at St. Thomas University since 1987. She was a lead agent (1992) in having the University receive the prestigious Renew America Environmental Achievement Award from the Rodale Foundation. She has served as Director of S.A.F.E. (Study Abroad For Earth) programs in Ecuador and Italy and organized conferences on Spirituality and Sustainability in Assisi, Italy (1991-2000). Dr. Ferrero is author of published articles and conference presentations in applied ethics and literature. She is also a published poet in Italian and English. Dr. Ferrero serves as a member of the Advisory Committee of the University of Florida Extension, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences; and she serves on the Executive Board of Pax Romana, USA, a Catholic movement for intellectual and cultural affairs.
