Programs

The Center for Ethics is committed to presenting community programming and educational activities that tackle many of the important issues of the day affecting those living and working in South Florida. Since its inception the Center has organized and sponsored a number of conferences, workshops and seminars including the following:

    • United Nations Global Compact Conference

A Center-organized dialogue in which United Nations officials and business executives explored ethic responsibility regarding human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.

    • Environment Practices Conference

On “Greening the Campus,” with ten universities attending and sharing their current programs and plans for sustainable practices.

    • Charter Education Program

As community outreach, the Center served as a year-long advisor for this program of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

    • Ethics Issues for Nonprofit Agencies

An on-campus ethics conference led by leaders in the nonprofit community.

    • When Politics and Law Collide Conference

A symposium on the interplay of ethical standards in the public arena, co-sponsored by St. Thomas University School of Law, the Commission on Ethics and Public Trust of Miami-Dade County, and the Daily Business Review

    • Political Campaign Ethics Conference

The Center partnered with the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics to hold a one-day conference on ethical and legal issues affecting campaigns and elections.

    • Justice, Ethics and Community Conference

This timely day-long program was conducted and attended by lawyers, chiefs of police and community leaders from South Florida with the active participation of students from the university criminal justice department.

    • Facing Up top Suicide Seminar

 

    • Workshop Series on the Legal and Ethical Responsibilities of Elected Officials

Bobcats headed to Idaho for NAIA World Series

May 15, 2019 For the second consecutive season, third time in the past five seasons and seventh time in program history, the St. Thomas University Bobcats Baseball team is headed to compete in the Avista-NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho on May 24th – May 31st. St. Thomas earned the berth following a 7-5 win over second seed William Jessup University in the Miami Gardens Bracket Championship Game at Paul Demie Mainieri Field. Read More

STU to Launch South Florida’s First Master of Science in Medical Sciences Degree Program for Aspiring Medical Professionals

December 20, 2018 Beginning in Fall 2019, St. Thomas University (STU) will introduce South Florida’s first and only Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) degree program. STU’s MSMS will be presented in partnership with Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) through Tiber Health Innovation and will be taught by PHSU’s medical school faculty and STU’s science faculty. St. Thomas Law wins National ABA Labor Law Trial Competition, Two Years in a Row

January 29, 2019 For the second year in a row, St. Thomas University School of Law’s trial team was crowned the 2019 ABA Labor and Employment Law National Trial Competition champions. The annual national competition was held from January 26-27 in New Orleans, La., and featured six law schools from around the country – William & Mary, UCLA, Washington University, Brooklyn Law, SMU School of Law and St. Thomas University School of Law; all champions in their own regions.
