Institute for World Languages and Cultures

The Institute for World Language and Cultures aims to cultivate an understanding among St. Thomas University and the broader south Florida community of languages and cultures of the world, as well as processes of the global interaction among cultures. This includes a look at cultural processes in the broad sense, including interactions in the areas of religion, fine arts, communications, science and technology, business, and politics.

For the St. Thomas community, it aims to facilitate language instruction, student and faculty trips abroad (including international internship programs). It hosts speakers and conferences, as well as cultural outreach programs to the broader community of south Florida.

The Institute for World Language and Cultures oversees and/or facilitates

  • Language Instruction
  • Student and faculty experiences abroad
  • The recruitment of foreign faculty for (language) instruction, visiting faculty positions, and/or university speaking arrangements

 

The Institute for World Languages and Cultures offers the International Studies Certificate.

Mission Statement

The Institute for World Languages and Cultures seeks to provide St. Thomas University students possibilities for learning languages and experiencing the world’s cultures. It also serves as a bridge between St. Thomas University and universities around the world.
