Brazilian-born, Ana Machado is a graduate of NY’s Peter Kumps School of Culinary Arts, she has a B.S. degree in Business Administration, as well as an MBA from Lynn University, in Boca Raton, FL.

Chef Machado has joined St. Thomas University in 2021, as part of the team creating the Culinary Arts, Tourism & Hospitality Management Program, in the Gus Machado College of Business.

She is a Certified Executive Chef, by the American Culinary Federation; Certified Hospitality Educator, by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute; and Certified Food Service Educator, by the Foodservice Educators Learning Community.

She has worked as a Chef in London, Australia, Bermuda, New York, and California.

Chef Machado has been teaching Culinary Arts, Hospitality, and Foodservice Management for the last 20 years focusing on Essentials of Culinary Arts, Global Cuisine, Culinary Nutrition, Food Safety & Sanitation, and Food Service Operations.

She is an avid traveler and has taken her students to Culinary Study Abroad trips to France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Thailand, China, Peru, and the Portuguese Islands of Azores and Madeira.

Before joining STU, Chef Machado was also the Personal Chef, providing High Performance Cuisine to two MVP from the NFL.

Chef Machado has written 50 recipes for the book titled: “Healing Gourmet – Eat to Beat Diabetes – Power Foods That Help You Regain Your Health”. McGraw Hill, and she has illustrated the children’s book titled The Adventures of Monterey Jack, Jack to the rescue, Destiny Publishing.

Professor/ Chef Ana Machado currently teaches Introduction to Food & Beverage Management, Essentials of Culinary Arts, and Food Science for Culinary Arts.
