I am Dr. John S. Yelvington, CPA formally, but students know me as Dr. Y.  I have been teaching here at STU for a year.  I am retired from full time work but love teaching online.

Most recently, I served as Program Director for the Business Department at South University’s Montgomery campus.

Prior to this assignment I taught Economics, Finance and Accounting at Reinhardt University, a small faith- based school north of Atlanta for 14 years.

Prior to teaching, I was the Controller at one of American Intercontinental University’s campuses, Assistant Controller at a hotel/motel management company and worked for BellSouth for 21 years in various financial capacities.

My educational background is as follows:

• DBA Accounting Specialty from Nova Southeastern University
• MS Economics from Auburn University
• BS Economics from Georgia Southern University

and am a licensed Certified Public Accountant (AL #12625-R)

I’ve been married to the same wonderful woman for 38 years and live in Auburn, AL and have 3 kids that any father would be proud of. My hobbies are golf and fishing and am equally terrible at both.
