Lourdes B. Fernandez, Esq.
Assistant Dean for Career Development

Lourdes B. Fernandez is the Assistant Dean for Career Development. She leads and oversees all events and programs within the Office for Career Development. For the benefit of students and alumni, she strengthens the relationships between the law school and the private and public sectors, as well as the judiciary. She is a graduate of St. Thomas University School of Law and has over 11 years of experience as a law clerk in Federal court. She is admitted to practice in Florida, and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She has also been an active member of the Peter T. Fay American Inn of Court since 2003 and served as the Assistant Treasurer for the Federal Bar Association, South Florida Chapter from 2004-2008.

Laura J. Varela, Esq.
Private Sector Career Counselor

Laura J. Varela is the Private Sector Career Counselor. She advises students and alumni on all private sector career opportunities (firms and corporations), and provides comprehensive career and professional development services for students and alumni through individual counseling, group programs and networking opportunities. Laura will also assist our graduates in transitioning into lateral or vertical career moves. She comes to us with over 20 years' experience in private practice with a focus on commercial litigation. A proud Gator, Laura received both her J.D. and undergraduate degrees from the University of Florida. She is active in several local voluntary bar associations, including the Broward County Bar Association (BCBA), and the Broward County Women's Lawyers Association (BCWLA), and is a longtime member of the Stephen R. Booher American Inn of Court. Laura is admitted to practice in Florida, all federal courts in Florida and several federal courts throughout the country, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Sherea L. Randle, Esq.
Public Sector Career Counselor

Sherea L. Randle is the Public Sector Career Counselor. She advises students and alumni on public sector internship, fellowship, clerkship, and career opportunities with the federal, state, and local governments, and on job search strategies for out-of-state opportunities and international public interest law organizations. She offers guidance on alternative careers and assists students with meeting their pro bono graduation requirement. Sherea served as legal counsel to the Department of Children and Families, Children’s Legal Services throughout the State of Florida, and most recently served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Florida Office of the Attorney General, General Civil Litigation Division, Children’s Legal Services Bureau in Broward County. Sherea received her J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law, her B.A. from Bethune-Cookman University and she maintains a Florida Educator Certification in Music Education K-12.

Angela Geter
Recruiting / Reciprocity Coordinator

Angela Geter organizes recruiting programs. Angela assists employers, students, and alumni, including coordinating on-campus interviews, scheduling appointments to meet with the career services counselors, posting job openings, and processing reciprocity requests. Angela earned a B.A. and M.A. from St. Thomas University.
