Juan-Carlos “J.C.” Planos joined Kurkin Brandes in 2008 counselling clients on a broad array of legal issues to include ethics and elections law, local governmental operations and State regulatory matters. Also at that time, he was appointed as lead counsel for the Miami-Dade chapter of the Republican National Lawyers Association during the 2008 Presidential Election. Since then, Mr. Planas has represented several State and Local Candidates on numerous election issues, more recently as Attorney and Counsel for the campaign of Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez. Prior to 2008, he served as an Assistant State Attorney for the 11th Circuit, Mr. Planas was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2002 for District 115 serving Westchester, East Kendall and the cities of Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay. As a former State Prosecutor, he was appointed as Vice-Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and Chair of the Public Safety Committee during his time in Tallahassee.

J.C. is a former member of the Miami-Dade Children’s Trust, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Fragile X Foundation.
