Pauline Louis, MSN-Ed, APN, RN Joined St. Thomas University in January, 2018 as a Nursing Instructor. Ms. Louis is a graduate of Barry University College of Nursing and Health Science with a Master’s degree in Nursing Science, Education track, December 2017. After graduation Ms. Louis was offered a position as an adjunct position at Barry University as a Clinical Instructor. She began her nursing career 17 years ago when she became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) after receiving her Practical Nursing certificate from Lindsey Hopkins Technical School in 2000. As her love for the profession grows, Ms. Louis continued her path to scholarship and obtained her Associate degree in Nursing Science in 2004 from Miami-Dade College, which led her to later earning her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University in 2009 in which she graduated Cum Laude.

Ms. Louis nursing background includes; Surgical Intensive care, Cardiac step-down, telemetry, clinical nurse educator, and coordinator of the newly hired nurse preceptorship program for Mount Sinai Medical Center. She is currently serving as first Vice President for the Haitian American Nurses Association of Florida, Inc. (HANA), immediate past second Vice President, served as assistant treasurer, chair of recruitment for the association 2013-2015 and also currently serving as co-chair of Public Relations and Legislative Affairs committees.

As an active member of the association she received numerous recognitions for her services and dedication such as being the first recipient of the Rookie of year in 2012, Nurse of the Year award in 2013, the prestigious Presidential Choice Award, and two time finalist for the March of Dimes Nurse of Year for Critical care and nurse educator awards. In 2008, awarded Nurse of the Year for step-down by her peers for her compassionate and exceptional patient care. Ms. Louis has shown her passion for nursing and her community not only through her voice but, by her action “If you see a need and you’re in a position to help, don’t wait to be ask, volunteer yourself”. Ms. Louis is also a member of the Florida Nurses Association and the local chapter of the International Nurse Association. Ms. Louis passion for the nursing profession as deem her a leader, an advocate for the nursing profession and her community, an educator, and a mentor to new nurses.
