Dr. Eduardo Raul Rivas, is Executive Director- STU Online, Director of Doctoral Programs, Chair- Leadership Department and Associate Professor in the School of Leadership, Education, and Communication at St. Thomas University. Most recently he served as Assistant Professor and Lead Faculty of Organizational Leadership in the Department of Higher Education, Organizational Leadership and Adult Education at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. His credentials include: Doctor of Education from the University of Miami; Educational Specialist from Nova Southeastern University; Master of Science from Nova Southeastern University; and a Master of Science in Social Studies Education from Florida International University. He has written and taught many courses in the leadership field, including leading change, strategic planning, ethics and social responsibility, human resource management, international leadership perspectives and leading for change. He has served as Chair and Committee Member on many Dissertation Committees at numerous Universities. He was also a Fulbright Scholar in Korea (1983) and most recently named Fulbright Specialist for Latin America and the Far East (2015-2020).

Dr. Rivas was awarded the NSU President's Faculty Research and Development Grant (2014- 2015) for research focused on global leadership in the Dominican Republic. He has also held the positions of Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; VicePresident for Academic Affairs and Professor at Universidad de San Buenaventura in Bogota, Colombia; President/CEO at the Institute for Leadership and Excellence in Bogota; Dean, Miami Dade College, Miami, Florida; School District Administrator, Teacher and Principal in the MiamiDade County Public Schools, Miami, Florida.

  • Rivas, E.R. & Rowe, W.E. (2016- ). Dimensions of Leadership in Partnership Development in Latin American NGOs. This research project is a partnership between researchers, Dr. Wendy Rowe at Royal Roads University, Canada, and Dr. Eduardo Rivas. The research expands on foundational work carried out in the Dominican Republic in which the researchers engaged with administrative leaders and staff in two education sector NGOs to explore questions of leadership competencies and strategies related to inter-organizational partnership development. Project is housed at Royal Roads University, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
