Communication Department

As one of the largest exports in the United States, the media and art industries provide a growing number of jobs in this diverse field. Graduates from the Communication Department’s programs qualify for a variety of leadership positions in the communications field. Opportunities abound in traditional media such as radio and television for students who seek careers “on the air,” as well as those who want to work behind the scenes in production in addition to corporate communications. South Florida is emerging as an international arts center with an abundance of cultural and arts institutions that require serious professionals to manage the art industry. As the industry grows, professional opportunities in art marketing, curating and general management are increasing in South Florida and internationally.

Broadcast and cable television and radio as well as advertising and public relations offer careers for writers, producers, directors, technicians, radio announcers, news and account executives. Recent graduates have also proven to be extremely competitive in the exploding field of digital communications. In fact, the versatility of this field allows graduates to find careers in Internet management, corporate advertising and public relations, teaching, journalism, playwriting, audio production and industrial video production.

The Communication Department offers students Undergraduate, Graduate and Certificate programs focused on developing professional comprehensive communicators who are leaders in diverse communication specialties.
