Dr. Lina I. Lopez is a Doctoral Dissertation Chair in the School of Leadership, Education and Communication at St. Thomas University. Dr. Lopez earned her doctorate in Teaching and Learning at the University of Miami (FL), where she also taught and conducted research as part of several federal grants. In addition to teaching in higher education for nearly 20 years, she also served as project director for a research study of best literacy practices with English language learners in urban settings. Dr. Lopez is an experienced public school teacher, working primarily with the dropout prevention program at the elementary level. Her research and writing interests include literacy, leadership styles, professional development, and advocacy for students of diverse backgrounds.
