STU Choir

Be a part of the St. Thomas University Chorus! Our past recent performances include singing for the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium, a Kurt Weill Opera with Orchestra Miami, and entertaining kids at Ronald McDonald House.

Audition Information

  • Please prepare a 1-minute song, in any style ( Christian, pop, rock, r&b, jazz, classical, country, or musical theater).
  • Songs may be performed acapella, with a backing track or students can accompany themselves or request piano accompaniment.
  • Fall audition/registration will be in-person auditions on Monday, August 21st,  2023 at 3 pm in the Music room (Building #9 next to Community Gym).
  • Incoming students may also audition as part of campus tour, zoom appointment or by video submission.

Competitive scholarships are available for incoming freshmen, and transfer students. Responsibilities include performing the National anthem at sports events, cantoring at Mass, and solo performances at concerts on and off campus. Audition by May 1st for scholarship priority.

Work-study positions available for undergraduate and graduate students in the music department!

Choir meets Mondays from 3 to 5pm in Performing Arts Room of the Student Center. Attendance at various evenings and weekend performances will be required throughout the year. A variety of styles, music theory, and performance techniques for the stage are taught in the class. All students are welcome, whether you’ve had music instruction previously, or are looking to get started for the first time!

    A native of Portsmouth, New Hampshire embraced singing in the Roman Catholic Church with St. Augustine’s motto “One who sings, prays twice”. A Soprano, Dr. Turner has performed in iconic venues including Carnegie Hall, The Vatican, Notre Dame Cathedral, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Symphony Space and Palau des les Artes. Dr. Turner earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the world renown Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, a Master of Music in Vocal Performance & Contemporary Production from Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain, and her Doctorate of Education in Innovation and Leadership (Summa Cum Laude) from St. Thomas University, Miami, Florida

    A well-rounded, versatile musician, she has industry experience in performing, teaching, writing, and working in the music business. As a SAG/AFTRA performer in theatre, film, tv and radio, favorite credits include International touring with Disney Live!, the Nickelodeon at Sea cruise ship, Summerstock theatre, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and theme parks. Past Opera performances with Amore Opera, Regina Opera, NY Lyric Opera, NY Oratorio Society, Opera America, and Opera Viva! Past favorite NYC Jazz/Cabaret gigs at The Metropolitan Room, The Cutting Room, Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Lounge, Silvana, Toshi’s Living Room, Piano’s and The Bitter End.

    As a K-12 educator, Dr. Turner has music directed at St. Joseph’s Regional Catholic School (Salem, NH), Boston Bridge Charter School, John Engeman Theatre, Brooklyn Arts Council, Inside Broadway, 92Y, TADA Youth Theatre, Mainstages and also maintains a private voice, piano and songwriting studio. Dr. Turner has first-hand experience in the entertainment industry, working behind the scenes for Concord Music Publishing, New Victory/New 42nd St theatre, Radio Disney, Boston Symphony Hall, and Broadway Across America.

    Andreas Häberlin, M.M
    Adjunct Professor of Music Appreciation,
    Piano Accompanist

    A native of Berlingen, Switzerland, Andreas spent his youth playing the organ in church by the countryside of Lake Constance. Mr. Häberlin obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Composition and Music Theory from the Zurich University of the Arts, a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, and a Master of Music in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games from the Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain.

    As an accomplished Jazz pianist and pit orchestra musician, past performances include the Courtyard Hereford, Liverpool Empire, and Unity theatre in the UK, and the Schauspielhaus Zürich. A former ballet accompanist for the LIPA dance department, and the Cobble Hill School of Ballet. He is the 2016 composer award recipient of the Swiss Förderbeitrag of the Kulturamt Thurgau. Mr. Häberlin is endorsed by Waves Audio, has released music software content with AIR Music Technology, and is a published composer with Molenaar Edition. He has provided musical arrangements, transcriptions, and engraving for the recent albums and performances of David Foster, Barbra Streisand, Michael Bublé, Harry Belafonte, Colbie Caillat, Snarky Puppy, Royal New Zealand Ballet, and the American Ballet Theatre.

    Elizabeth and Andreas enjoy performing, teaching, and embracing their faith together. Together they have led musical residencies with the Queens Theatre, Long Lake Camp of the Arts, and Dance-Laugh-Learn of New York. Their original composition “Give me the Stage” won first prize at the Buñol Symphonic Wind Band Competition, and the Hampton Beach talent competition. Together they have presented their original musical “Ciao Bambino” at the Midtown International Theatre Festival, the 13th Street Repertory Theatre, and have lectured at the South Eastern Theatre Conference. The duo has performed their vintage pop act on Carnival Cruise Lines from Australia to South America. Elizabeth & Andreas are current Doctoral Candidates at St. Thomas University in Educational Leadership & Innovation.
