Lilian Sanchez Monterde, M.S., comes from Florida National University where she worked as Admission Advisor for more than 3 years. She has a Master of Science in Education with a specialization in Spanish Education; and a Bachelor Degree in Education with a specialization in ESOL. Lilian assists students with questions regarding financial aid, transcripts, academic requirements, and class scheduling. Provide assistance and student support services, including course registration for Graduate students in the Express Assistance Lab and/or at assigned workstation.

Gretell Garcia served as Director of the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) grant at St. Thomas University. Prior to working with the EOC, she directed the 21st Century Community Center grant for over six years. She has 14 years of teaching and academic experience serving diverse student populations at different educational levels, and a passion for education and learning. Additionally, she has worked as a bilingual science instructor (Spanish/English) at the undergraduate level for over six years. Gretell earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Especial Education with a track in gifted students at St. Thomas University and obtained a second Master’s Degree in Entomology and Nematology at University of Florida.

A native of Madrid, Spain, Cristina C. López is a higher education administration professional with 15+ years of experience in academia, non-profit, and corporate sectors. Currently, she is Director of Career Services and an Adjunct Faculty at St. Thomas University, her alma mater. Ms. López has been cross-trained in Student Affairs, Academic and Career Services, and International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS). Her industry experience includes working for a world leader in luxury goods in Madrid, a start-up online research company in Miami Beach, and an American Spanish-language television network in Hialeah. Passionate about giving back to the community, Ms. López served as President of the South Florida chapter of Prospanica, the association of Hispanic professionals, which promotes education and employment opportunities amongst Hispanics and other minorities. Ms. López is a Ph.D. student in the Higher Education Leadership program at Florida Atlantic University. She holds a Master of Arts in Communication Arts, a Master of Business Administration, a Certificate in Human Resource Management, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Thomas University. In addition, she is MBTI certified. Ms. López is fluent in English, Spanish, and French. In her role as Director of Career Services, Ms. López is responsible for the creative management and coordination of the university’s career services for students and recent alumnae/i. Services provided include internship and job search assistance, interview preparation, résumé writing, career development workshops, and job fair coordination. She uses her entrepreneurial skills to develop experiential and internship opportunities for all levels of students of Biscayne College, the School of Arts and Education, the Gus Machado School of Business, the School of Science, and the School of Theology.

Lauren D. Rios, M.E.M. has enjoyed being part of the wonderful community at St. Thomas University. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University. Her love for education got her a job at St. Thomas University in the Admissions Office as a Student Service Representative, she was than promoted to work in the Enrollment Center where she was able to use her skills in communication and advising to her now current position as Career Services Representative. During that time, she has earned a Master’s degree in Executive Management and a Certificate in Human Resource Management at the place where she calls her second home “St. Thomas University.” She provides assistance to students seeking employment opportunities, communicates with employers, and assists coordinating events, among other responsibilities. .

Dr. Pulido joined the St. Thomas University Student Success Center with 25 years of experience in education. He has served as a high school teacher, school administrator and university adjunct professor. Additionally, throughout his career he successfully owned a real estate business, held local elected office, worked with various nonprofits and consulted for both private and public organizations. He completed his doctoral studies in Education with a concentration in Organizational Leadership, has a Master’s of Science in Education/Social Sciences and is a proud STU alumnus with a BA in History. His diverse career experiences offer unique perspectives in assisting STU students with the successful accomplishment of their academic goals.

Karina Cabrera serves as Professional Advisor at St. Thomas University, providing Academic Advising services for all majors under the school of Science, Technology and Engineering Management. Prior working as an Advisor, she was the Registrar's Supervisor at Florida National University (FNU) for over 15 years. Processing graduates, official and unofficial withdraws, evaluating transcripts, creating master schedule for all divisions, posting and updating tuition, running specific reports such as SAP and registered credit by term for financial Aid purposes. Besides being part of the retention committed of the University, she also participated in several SACCS commission meeting and re-affirmations. She has a wide range of experiences in Higher Education from Academic Advising, Registration, Admissions, Student life and Financial Aid. In addition to having 19 years of experience working with diverse student population including Veterans Affairs, International Students and student with disabilities. She has a Master of Science with a specialization in Industrial/Organizational Psychology; and a bachelor’s Degree in psychology.

Tecarra earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and Master’s Degree in Adult Education and Human Resource Development from Florida International University. Tecarra joins the St. Thomas community as an academic advisor. Her goal is to assist students with achieving their educational and career goals, while maintaining a great student experience!
