Grounded in the rich legacy of the Catholic heritage of faith and reason, the focus of the Religious Studies program at St. Thomas University is one of a global theology. It explores the implications, both practical and pastoral, of faith’s search for understanding. The program respects the religious diversity of our student body and reflects our position that religious understanding is fundamental to peace and justice in the world with its rich array of religions and religious practices.

Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministries

Begun in 1980, the 36-credit hour MAPM degree prepares adult learners for the challenges of serving in increasingly complex and varied ministerial contexts, with hundreds of graduates taking up positions across the country. We have offered innovative formats for classes (hybrid, weekend, and teleconferencing options) to cater to the lives of working adults. Students are prepared for a variety of ministries within the church, as well as for further graduate studies.

St. Thomas Law Delegation Aid Separated Migrant Families in Texas

August 3, 2018 The humanitarian crisis caused by the separation of migrant children from their asylum-seeking parents has had an effect on everyone that has heard the heartbreaking stories.The St. Thomas Law family answered the call, sprung into action and headed to Texas to lend their much-needed expertise to assist detained and separated families. STU to Launch Football and Marching Band Programs in Fall 2019

August 29, 2018 History was made at St. Thomas University (STU) as the school is launching a football team and marching band for the first time ever. South Florida’s newest football team, the St. Thomas Bobcats, will begin practice in Spring 2019, while building the capacity to play a full season beginning in Fall 2019. August 21, 2018 The St. Thomas University/Café Cocano Project has won an award from Ashoka U for its innovative educational approach to social entrepreneurship in higher education.
The Innovation Award is Ashoka U’s top honor for premiere higher education programs in social innovation education. It recognizes high impact and highly replicable education innovations, including pioneering teaching models, co-curricular programming, community partnerships, and research.
