Assistant Professor Morenike Saula presented her research paper on "How a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) Could Improve Financial Inclusion” at the Evolution of Digital Assets panel at ComplianceNet 2025, held at Fordham University School of Law.

Professor Saula gave insight on how CBDCs can be used to bridge the gap between the banked and the unbanked population. In particular, she highlighted the need for a government-backed digital account as opposed to profit-driven financial accounts provided by private financial institutions. She pointed out the rising costs of financial services and the indiscriminate practices that exclude members of the minority population. Professor Saula recognized the need for immediate government intervention through the provision of interest-bearing CBDCs.
