Sr. Director for Career Development Jennifer Ley-Soto and Associate Vice President of Philanthropy James Konschnik attended the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s “Women Trailblazers in Law” event at the University of Miami on Friday, November 22.

The program featured a dynamic panel discussion moderated by NBC6 news anchor Jackie Nespral, with keynote speaker Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle, and panelists Iris Escarra, Hilarie Bass, Tiffani G. Lee, and Julie Braman Kane.

Together, they celebrated the innovators and barrier-breakers who continue to advance the legal profession. Their leadership and example strengthen our mission of developing compassionate, ethical, and practice-ready lawyers.

Third-year law student Amanda Fiestas and second-year Brittany Harris of the Immigration Law Clinic partnered on an immigration case that recently resulted in a significant victory on behalf of a client. Amanda argued the motion, while Brittany assisted Amanda in preparing for the hearing.

Amanda presented a clear, well-supported, and compelling argument demonstrating that the client held a prima facie claim to relief. Her advocacy, marked by meticulous preparation, confident oral argument, and thoughtful responsiveness to the Immigration Judge’s inquiries, proved decisive. The Immigration Judge ruled in our client’s favor and terminated the proceedings, enabling our client to move forward with stability and dignity. This outcome highlights not only the strength of the case but also the exceptional skill and dedication the students brought to their representation.
