Program Highlight:
Three + Three – B.A. + J.D. Program

The Three + Three Program offers students an opportunity to earn a combined Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctor Degree. The Accelerated Law Program allows students to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor degree in six years instead of the traditional seven years.

Dean Tarlika Nuñez-Navarro was recently featured on the Always an Athlete Podcast with Jonathan K. Osborne, Esq., where she spoke about our law school’s success, the “train like an athlete” mindset, the discipline, resilience, and focus it takes to excel, and how she conveys this to our students to prepare them for the courtroom.

3Ls Amanda Fiestas and Xiomara García delivered thoughtful and impactful presentations addressing critical issues in immigration practice during a webinar, along with Vivi Negrete, CEO, Eminat Medical Center, and Professor Carmen Atkins, Director of the Immigration Clinic. Amanda presented on the use and importance of ILRC Red Cards as a tool for community empowerment and protection, while Xiomara walked us through a real case involving a detained individual, highlighting both the legal complexities and the human dimension of detention.

This webinar was made possible through the sponsorship of the Consulate of Ecuador in Miami and Ecuachamber, whose continued commitment to community education and advocacy makes conversations like these possible.

Watching our students step into these roles—with confidence, clarity, and purpose—is exactly why this work matters.

Congratulations to Professor Brian C. Potts, whose article, "The Federal Rules of Evi-dance: Exploring and Reimagining Evidence Law Through Music, and Proposing Amendments to Rule 604," has been accepted for publication in the Suffolk Journal of Trial and Appellate Advocacy.

The article uses leitmotivs (musical phrases) to make the Federal Rules of Evidence more concrete and easier to understand. It proposes several new arguments, rule changes, applications of Catholic principles, and explanations to make Evidence Law clearer and to challenge some common views.

3L Martha Leonard has published her article, “Cronyism in Creating Chronic Disease—A Path to Food Justice,” in the St. Thomas Law Review.

The article explores how the corporate capture of the food system shape public health outcomes. It examines federal programs such as the Farm Bill, SNAP, and the National School Lunch Program, and analyzes the role of market concentration, weakened antitrust enforcement, and regulatory gaps in agrochemicals. Martha argues that chronic disease is not simply a matter of personal choice, but is deeply influenced by law, policy, and systemic incentives.
