The John J. Brunetti Human Trafficking Academy alumna (2024), Liz Stribling and her team at Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services successfully helped a trafficking survivor remove exploitative credit history under the Debt Bondage Repair Act, giving her a chance to rebuild her financial future.

This is the kind of survivor-centered advocacy we celebrate through the Gillen-Massey Award and our ongoing work.

On January 12, the Appellate Litigation Clinic, directed by Professor Leticia Mora, visited the Miami-Dade Commission on Human Rights (CHR) for an orientation ahead of its Spring 2026 docket. This semester, the Clinic will be taking on cases before the CHR, representing individuals or companies in employment discrimination matters.

The CHR is a quasi-judicial and advisory board responsible for enforcing the Miami-Dade Human Rights Ordinance, which prohibits discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations, and credit practices.

Third-year law students Anisa Zwolinski, Bryan Ramsaran, Gabriella Jones, Priscilla Hernandez, James Richey, and Valentina Montoya Bayona will appear before the CHR to advocate on behalf of clients and further the Clinic’s mission to provide meaningful experiential legal training grounded in public interest values.

The Appellate Litigation Clinic is honored to appear before the CHR in pursuit of justice and accountability for our Miami-Dade community.
