New Student Orientation and Registration (NSOR)
New undergraduate students admitted to attend St. Thomas University for the first time who have not earned any college credits must attend one of our New Student Orientation and Registration (NSOR) sessions in order to register for classes. During these two hour sessions you'll get the chance to meet and interact with other students, receive important information on the many things you can do here, and register for classes. We'll also give you tips on how to transition to college life, describe the support services we offer to make your time here meaningful, and explain how to best complete your program of study and secure your future.
Prior to attending the NSOR session you must also have done the following:
- Taken the Placement Test (Accuplacer) in the subject area that does not meet the SAT, ACT, AP, CLEP, scores to be exempt from placement testing at St. Thomas University’s Testing Center prior to attending a NSOR session.
Minimum Test Scores to be exempt from placement testing:
- SAT Verbal: 440 or above
- SAT Writing: 440 or above
- SAT Math: 440 or above
- ACT Reading: 18 or above
- ACT English: 17 or above
- ACT Math: 18 or above
There are two options for taking a placement exam:
- In person at STU’s Testing Center, by contacting the Testing Center to make an appointment.
- In the comfort of your home through our online proctoring service, BVirtual.
Note: There is a $25 fee to take your examination through this service. Fee will be credited to the student’s account AFTER course withdrawal deadline with 100% refund day has elapsed. To apply click HERE.
