About Phi Delta Phi
Membership in Phi Delta Phi is a mark of distinction that reflects a commitment to scholastic achievement, honorable achievement, and professional ethics. Founded in 1869, Phi Delta Phi is the oldest legal organization in continuous existence in the United States, predating even the American Bar Association. Since that time, Phi Delta Phi has grown beyond the borders of the United States to Canada, Latin America, and Europe.
Phi Delta Phi celebrates academic excellence and embraces the finest attributes of professionalism and scholarship with more than 200,000 initiated members worldwide in over 250 chartered chapters. Active membership is drawn from those students of the law who not only have shown themselves companionable but have manifested ability and industry in legal study. Membership in Phi Delta Phi is truly a mark of honor and distinction that follows one throughout life.

Applicants must be within the Top 30 Percent of his/her class OR be recognized for other scholastic achievements such as published journals (Law Reviews), community service in legal clinics (Immigration, Tax, Appellate, etc.), or other projects approved by the Council (Trial Team or Moot Court).
Step 1: Pay your Lifetime National Dues ($135): Pay Here
Step 2: Pay Local Chapter Dues – $35 for All Students: Pay Here
- Fill out the form, and in the box that reads “This payment is for”, choose “other” at the bottom of the drop-down list.
- On the box that reads “Additional Payment Memo,” please put “Phi Delta Phi – Dues.”
Step 3: Send proof of National & Local Chapter Dues to pdp@stu.edu.
Step 4: In dues email, request to join Phi Delta Phi WhatsApp Chat.
Step 5: After Steps 1-4, if you are a 3L, please email pdp@stu.edu regarding regalia. 2L’s must email the Magister during their final semester regarding their regalia purchase.
