Keith E. Puls
Professor Keith E. Puls was commissioned into the U.S. Army as a Field Artillery officer in 1988 and then attended Boston University School of Law under the Army’s Funded Legal Education Program. During his career as a Judge Advocate, he served in various positions in the 10th Mountain Division, Operational Law Fellow in the Center for Law and Military Operations, Professor at the Army Judge Advocate General’s School, Chief of International and Operational Law for U.S. Army Europe, and as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate for U.S. Southern Command. After retiring from active duty, he continued to serve as the Principal Deputy Legal Counsel at U.S. Southern Command providing legal advice regarding all U.S. military operations in South and Central America and the Caribbean. He has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Florida International University School of Law, teaching National Security Law/Law of Armed Conflict for over a decade.
Professor Puls received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (magna cum laude) from Creighton University in 1988 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence (cum laude) from Boston University School of Law in 1995. He has also earned a Master of Religion from the Reformed Theological Seminary, Master of Law in Military Law from the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s School, Master of Law in Intercultural Human Rights (summa cum laude) from St. Thomas University School of Law and a Doctor of Juridicial Science in Intercultural Human Rights (magna cum laude) from St. Thomas Univerity College of Law in 2024.
