About the Series

This year, we launch the inaugural Siegfried Wiessner Human Flourishing Distinguished Lecture Series. In order to enrich the academic experience of our students and to offer the community an opportunity to hear from some of the country’s foremost experts in an intimate setting, the Series provides a forum, by way of an annual lecture, for a distinguished scholar to present each academic year at the College of Law.

The Series honors a scholar whose work embodies the intellectual excellence, impact, and commitment to human dignity that distinguish the body of work of its namesake, Siegfried Wiessner.

At the invitation of the Series Committee, the lecturer and his or her topic are selected with the purpose of promoting excellence in the law not contrary to Catholic doctrine and to promote our College of Law as an institution of distinction.

The Series has been endowed in perpetuity by the generosity of College of Law Professors John and June Mary Makdisi.
