Global Entrepreneurship Week
November 17 – 20, 2025
Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is an international initiative that introduces entrepreneurship to youth and adults in six continents. In 2008, its inaugural year, Global Entrepreneurship Week involved more than 3 million participants,100 countries, and 25,000 activities. This year, there will be over 10 million people, 200 countries, and 40,000 activities.
The mission of GEW is to inspire people to pursue their ideas, to create jobs and to build global ambition among young people and business owners alike.
South Florida is a major incubator for entrepreneurship. Miami-Dade and Broward counties together are home to over a million micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs).

For the past 16 years, excluding a few years because of the Covid-19 pandemic and administrative restructuring, STU has joined the rest of the world in celebrating Entrepreneurship. Past activities and events have included: Business Pitch Competitions, Tradeshows, Poster Competitions, Panel Discussions and Entrepreneur Award Receptions. During that time, over 6000 students have benefited from exposure to the possibilities of entrepreneurship. Hundreds have gone on to start their own businesses.
Special Keynote Speakers and Panelists have included Michael Fernandez (MBF Healthcare Partners), Diane Sanchez (former CEO , Technology Foundation of the Americas), alumnus Jorge Rico (Vice Chair, Board of Trustees), Feleicia Hatcher (CEO, Black Ambition Opportunity Fund), Jessica Goldman Srebnick (CEO, Goldman Properties and Goldman Global Arts), alumnus Laurent Lamothe (former Prime Minister of Haiti), alumnus Carol Ellis-Cutler (First VP , CBRE), Manny Mencia (former Senior VP, Enterprise Florida), and TJ Villamil (President of Business Development, eMerge Americas) among other entrepreneurial VIPs.
The GMCOB plans to widely promote all Global Entrepreneurship Week events, collaborating with STU’s Marketing office. We will do extensive internet promotion using the GEW website. Additionally, we will capitalize on social media – especially Linkedin, Facebook and Instagram.
It is to be noted that St. Thomas University’s extended community is invited to all events: STU students; STU faculty, staff and administrators; STU Trustee board members and volunteers; and STU alumni and supporters. We will also extend invitations to the cities, chambers of commerce and other universities in our community.
