The Honorable David A. Haimes

Judge David A. Haimes was born and raised in South Florida. He graduated from Chaminade High School in Hollywood, Florida. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1987, where he studied accounting. He worked for Ernst & Young as an auditor for three years prior to returning to Notre Dame where he graduated summa cum laude from Notre Dame Law School in 1993. 

Judge Haimes was appointed as a Broward County Circuit Court Judge in January 2010. He was previously assigned to the criminal and civil divisions and is currently assigned to the Complex Business Division. He has presided over 350 criminal and civil jury trials. 

Prior to becoming a Circuit Judge, he worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of Florida, an Assistant State Attorney in Broward County, a civil trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) Tax Division, and a judicial law clerk for United States District Court Judges William P. Dimitrouleas, and William J. Zloch.  

He currently serves on the faculties of the Florida Judicial College and the Florida Bar Civil Advanced Trial Advocacy program, as well as various committees, including the Bench and Bar Committee and the Board of Directors for the Notre Dame Club of Fort Lauderdale.
