Jeff Ehrlich
Jeff Ehrlich is a partner at McGuireWoods LLP in Washington, D.C., and a nationally recognized advisor to financial-services companies confronting complex regulatory investigations, enforcement actions, and compliance challenges. He represents clients in high-stakes matters before state attorneys general, federal agencies, and self-regulatory organizations, with a particular expertise in consumer-financial laws, multistate enforcement trends, and broker-dealer regulatory issues. In addition to his regulatory practice, Jeff litigates on behalf of depositories, broker-dealers, and other financial institutions in civil enforcement actions and private disputes in both state and federal courts.
Jeff draws on nearly three decades of combined government and private-sector experience. Most notably, he served as deputy enforcement director at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, where he led a nationwide team and oversaw hundreds of investigations and enforcement actions. Earlier in his career, Jeff was a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, an assistant county attorney for Miami-Dade County, Florida, and an associate at Sidley Austin in Washington, D.C. He began his legal career as law clerk to the Hon. James Lawrence King of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Beyond his practice, Jeff has taught consumer finance at STU College of Law since 2021, is a Fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers, and has served on Law360’s Editorial Advisory Board for Consumer Protection since 2024.
