Jeffrey “Jeff” Veitch is Associate Dean of Administration and Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Law at St. Thomas University College of Law. In this dual role, he leads the law school’s academic and administrative operations, including budget and facilities, staff supervision, compliance, curriculum, academic standards, and programs that support student recruitment, education, and retention. During his tenure, he has helped guide the school’s growth, capital improvements, investment in academic success, stronger student outcomes, and greater financial stability.

Dean Veitch has more than 25 years of experience in criminal and civil litigation and in business management. He began his career as a prosecuting attorney in the Seattle City Attorney’s Office, where he specialized in the domestic violence unit and later served as a special trial unit prosecutor on high-profile cases. In private practice, he represented clients in state and federal courts, handling thousands of matters ranging from DUI to first-degree murder and tried more than one hundred cases through trial. He also served as managing partner and/or president of several law firms and pursued related entrepreneurial work.

He was named a “Rising Star” early in his career (Top 2.5% of Lawyers under 40) and was selected as a “Super Lawyer” by Law & Politics Magazine – Thomson Reuters, (Top 5% of Lawyers in each State), from 2016 until he closed his Washington law practice in 2021. He has been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers as a “Top 100 Criminal Trial Lawyer” every year since 2015.

Dean Veitch’s teaching and scholarship areas of interest are evidence, criminal law and procedure, trial advocacy, litigation and law-practice management, employment law, and higher-education administration. He has been a frequent speaker at continuing legal education programs, previously chaired the Erie County Bar Association Criminal Division, and served as an adjunct professor at Mercyhurst University, where he created and taught the course, “The American Legal System,” covering contracts, torts, criminal law and procedure, and evidence. He earned his J.D. from Capital University Law School; B.A. in Business Management and History from Mercyhurst University; and an Employment Law Certificate from Cornell University’s ILR School. Jeff is admitted to the bar in Pennsylvania and Washington.
