Jose O. De La Cruz

Jose O. De La Cruz is the Managing Partner of Bello Law, P.A., where he focuses his practice on complex civil litigation, including personal injury, wrongful death, trucking litigation, negligent security, and family law matters.

Professor De La Cruz graduated summa cum laude from St. Thomas University College of Law. During law school, he distinguished himself academically and went on to serve as a judicial law clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Before joining Bello Law, he practiced at a prominent insurance defense firm, where he gained extensive experience defending complex civil claims. That experience now provides him with a unique perspective in advocating for plaintiffs and navigating high-stakes litigation.

In addition to his legal practice, Professor De La Cruz has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at St. Thomas University, where he teaches Evidence since 2023. His course emphasizes not only the Federal Rules of Evidence, but also the practical application of evidentiary principles in depositions, motion practice, and trial advocacy. Drawing from his active litigation practice, he integrates real-world examples and courtroom strategy to prepare students for the realities of legal practice.

Professor De La Cruz is committed to mentoring the next generation of attorneys and helping students bridge the gap between legal theory and practical advocacy. His teaching philosophy emphasizes preparation, professionalism, ethical advocacy, and the critical thinking skills necessary to succeed both in the courtroom and throughout the legal profession.
