Jennifer Ley-Soto
Jennifer S. Ley-Soto is the Senior Director for Career Development at St. Thomas University Benjamin L. Crump College of Law. Throughout her career, she has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to public service. Over the past 20 years, Mrs. Ley-Soto’s exceptional leadership skills, coupled with her extensive legal knowledge, have enabled her to make a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals and families. As Director of Career Development, she continues to inspire and mentor future generations of legal professionals.
Mrs. Ley-Soto began her legal career while in law school as a certified legal extern representing indigent clients in everything from bankruptcy to family and dependency law while conducting outreach to the region’s migrant community. She later joined the State of Florida’s Department of Children and Families, representing the State in all Chapter 39 legal proceedings across multiple counties in North and South Florida.
In 2010, Mrs. Ley-Soto joined a Miami-based, non-profit Agency providing services to families involved in the State’s dependency court system. There, she expanded her experience beyond litigation to include managing and leading the operations as its General Counsel and Director of Full Case Management. As part of the Executive Leadership team, she led the Agency’s negotiation team in procuring and securing its multi-million dollar contract. This experience gave her the opportunity to lead a team of nearly 70 employees, and regularly advise the CEO, Board of Directors, and other senior leadership.
Throughout her legal career, Mrs. Ley-Soto developed a strong ability to build relationships, identify issues, create solutions, and implement necessary changes. She’s recognized as a collaborative leader with strong ties to the legal community as an active member of the Cuban American Bar Association.
Mrs. Ley-Soto holds a Juris Doctorate from Florida State University College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Florida International University. She is admitted to practice in the State of Florida and before the United States Supreme Court.
