Havana Nights Delights Guests and Supports Our Bobcats!
By Bruno Diaz
Havana came to Miami Gardens last Saturday, January 24th, as St. Thomas University (STU) welcomed friends, alumni, and supporters to Havana Nights at the Gus Machado College of Business Rico Family Plaza. The plaza was glowing, the energy was high, and the night was pure joy and celebration.
Guests leaned into the Cuban spirit of the beautiful South Florida evening with exceptional food, bold Cuban flavors, and plenty of reasons to stay on their feet. The dance floor stayed busy, with the DJ and the Celia Cruz All-Stars keeping the crowd moving all night long.
Between songs and conversation, attendees gathered around domino tables for the classic Cuban pastime, drank some cafecito, and many enjoyed Cuban cigars, adding to the authentic atmosphere. The result was a night that felt deeply connected to our roots, honoring STU’s heritage that traces back to Universidad de Santo Tomás de Villanueva in Havana.
Most importantly, Havana Nights helped power the next generation of Bobcats. Proceeds support St. Thomas University Athletics, helping provide scholarships, equipment, and travel support for our student-athletes. Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported the event, and helped make it such a memorable night. Go Bobcats!
