Congratulations to St.Thomas Law International Moot Court members, Jonathan Befus (2L), Dylan Conroy (2L) and Antonio Villa de Rey (3L). The trio competed in the 2019 Manfred Lachs North America Space Law Moot Court Competition, held March 29 and 30, 2019 at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C.
The team advanced to the quarter-finals after competing against University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law and McGill University Institute of Air and Space Law where they made a strong showing against a seasoned team from the Air Command and Staff College.
The team was presented with their plaque at the awards dinner which featured Lt. General Jeffrey A. Rockwell, The Judge Advocate General as its keynote speaker. General Rockwell serves as the legal adviser to the Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Air Force and all officers and agencies of the Department of the Air Force.
The dinner provided an excellent opportunity for our students to network with attorneys representing both governmental agencies and private commercial entities involved in Space Law.
The team received support and guidance from faculty advisors Professors Susan Warheit and Sylvia Ospina.
The St. Thomas Law was the only Florida law school with a team in this prestigious Space Law Moot Court competition.

The St. Thomas Law International Moot Court (IMC) is an honors organization focused on the study and application of international law. IMC offers students the opportunity to participate in the International Moot Court Program where they represent the law school in student-based legal competitions around the world, while obtaining course credit.
