STU Alumna and Corporate Training Expert Releases New Book on Entrepreneurial Mindset for Women

Corporate trainer and speaker Charlene Walters had already earned her undergraduate degree in English in the mid-1990’s when she moved to Miami, FL, to work as a sales associate at an import company. Always looking to improve herself, she knew she wanted to learn more about business and advance professionally. Consequently, she and a fellow co-worker decided to attend St. Thomas University (STU) to earn their Masters of Business Administration degrees. Walters credits the magical experience STU provided as an essential reason to continue her career path, which now includes writing her first book, Launch Your Inner Entrepreneur, already hitting Amazon’s Business Entrepreneurship Best Seller List.

“I gained a strong foundation in business at St. Thomas University due to the education and nurturing I received from excellent professors and the close-knit environment of friends I made there,” stated Walters. “My MBA immediately set me on my current path which began when I took a position as an Associate Dean shortly after graduation. This move kick-started my career in higher education which eventually led me to entrepreneurship, training, and coaching. I ended up exactly where I am supposed to be and am very excited about my new role as an author,” added Walters.

After achieving her MBA from St. Thomas University in 1997, Charlene earned a PhD in marketing and worked for many years in higher education, mainly in curriculum development. She created and led a digital entrepreneurship MBA program before becoming a full-time entrepreneurship coach and business and branding mentor with Entrepreneur  magazine’s Ask An Expert platform and through her own consulting business.

“I love working with entrepreneurs who are launching businesses as well as individuals who desire to move forward professionally. It is rewarding to help people make their dreams come true and advance their career goals. Providing workshops on work-life balance, innovation, resilience, mindset, remote leadership, time management and more is another wonderful way that I’ve been able to help individuals and teams build their skillsets,” stated Walters.

After realizing 42% of all small business or franchise owners are women, but that most entrepreneur books are skewed to the male audience, Walters sought a way to provide the fastest guidance for female entrepreneurs. Her new book, Launch Your Inner Entrepreneur: 10 Mindset Shifts for Women to Take Action, Unleash Creativity and Achieve Financial Success is an all-encompassing guide which helps fempreneurs make the mindset shifts necessary for running a successful startup by addressing and overcoming the challenges and thoughts that may sabotage them along their entrepreneurial journey.

The 256-page book is packed full of practical advice, puns and plenty of empowerment, and a plethora of tips and knowledge to guide women entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs/side hustlers to turn their startup dreams into a reality. The book also includes The Fempreneur Action Plan- workbook style activities that accompany each chapter. These exercises enable women founders to convert the tips they learn into actionable steps and goals.

“My career and the practical real-world advice I provide in the book originated from the most important things I learned at STU: a solid understanding of business and the connection between mindset and success,” stated Walters. “My advice to students today is to realize that you can achieve whatever you put your mind to. It is all about setting goals, planning and then execution. No matter what your career path, you must always work on establishing your presence and personal brand, too. You can’t get away from it.”
