Grading Information
This page outlines our academic grading system: the grade‑point equivalents for each letter grade, descriptive definitions of those grades, and other special grade indicators used in GPA calculations and academic records.

- A‑ – 3.67
- B+ – 3.33
- B – 3.00
- B‑ – 2.67
- C+ – 2.33
- C – 2.00
- C‑ – 1.67
- D+ – 1.33
- D – 1.00
- F – 0.00
Grade Descriptors
- A = Superior
- B = With Merit
- C = Satisfactory
- D = Passing
- F = Failure
Other Grade Indicators
- AD (Administrative Drop): permanent grade for non‑payment; no credit or grade points; used in GPA calculation
- AU (Audit): no credit or grade points
- AW (Administrative Withdrawal): permanent grade; no credit or grade points; not used in GPA
- CP (Course in Progress): temporary grade for internship courses
- I (Incomplete)
- NG (No Grade Submitted): temporary grade
- NP (No Pass): unsatisfactory for pass/no‑pass courses
- P (Pass): credit earned for pass/no‑pass courses
- UW (Unofficial Withdrawal): no credit or grade points; not used in GPA; only if the student never attended
- W (Official Withdrawal): no credit or grade points
Advanced Placement (AP) Credit Policy
Students must earn a score of 3 or above on their AP exam to receive college credits from STU. Official scores must be sent to STU through College Board to be considered for credit.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Credit Policy
STU recognizes the International Baccalaureate Degree and awards advanced standing credits for scores of 4 or better on International Baccalaureate higher level examinations. Official scores must be sent to STU through International Baccalaureate to be considered for credit
Cambridge (AICE) Credit Policy
Students must earn a score of e or above on their Cambridge exam to receive college credits from STU. Official scores must be sent to STU through Cambridge to be considered for credit.
