JetBlue Airways has named St. Thomas University (STU) one of its preferred university partners, marking a transformational strategic partnership for the university. The partnership provides exclusive travel benefits and discounts for STU athletic teams and extends to group travel for academic and experiential learning programs.

“This particular partnership comes at the right time for our university as we continue to establish and build authentic relationships with pillar organizations in our community,” said Michael Mominey, Interim Vice President for Philanthropy and Vice President for Athletic Revenue Generation & Strategy. “JetBlue is certainly one of those nationally recognized and respected companies whose mission and vision align very well with our university. As we continue to build for the future and pursue excellence, I couldn’t think of a better partner than JetBlue.”

The partnership aligns with JetBlue’s recent commitment to South Florida, including a 75% increase in daily departures from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport compared with the same period last year. This summer, JetBlue added nonstop daily service from Fort Lauderdale to Baltimore, Charlotte, Cleveland, Nashville, Detroit, Houston, Chicago, and Ponce, Puerto Rico. Additional service is scheduled to begin in the coming months to Indianapolis; San Diego; Columbus, Ohio; Cali and Barranquilla, Colombia; and Caracas, Venezuela.

The STU Bobcats are enjoying one of their most successful fall seasons in recent memory. The football team remains undefeated and is ranked No. 1 nationally in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), while the ninth-ranked women’s volleyball team is within reach of its sixth consecutive Sun Conference regular-season title. Both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams debuted at No. 1 in the inaugural SwimCloud ratings, and the men’s basketball team upset defending NAIA champion and preseason No. 2 Freed-Hardeman University in its second game of the season.
