Professor Sandy Boisrond, Assistant Professor of Academic Success and Bar Preparation, was appointed to serve as a member of the Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics and Public Trust.
Professor Priester’s scholarly article was cited in the United States Supreme Court’s decision in Erlinger v. United States (No. 23-730) on June 21, 2024. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson cited to, and quoted five times from, his 2011 article in the Santa Clara Law Review that critiqued the Court’s doctrines relating to the constitutional law of sentencing factfinding.
Professor Ledwon recently spoke at the 26th Annual Law, Culture & the Humanities Conference at the University of British Columbia Allard School of Law. Her presentation was on the topic, “The Gender of Tears: Legal Sensibilities of Demeanor Evidence.”
Professor Gonzalez-Rivera has been selected for a highly competitive resident Visiting Scholar position at Georgetown Law’s Center for the Constitution this Fall. During his residency, he will have the opportunity to research and write about the history, theory, and practice of federal police powers, especially during emergencies, and present his findings to students and fellow scholars.
The resulting publication will be part of Professor Gonzalez-Rivera’s broader projects, which involve developing a Policy-Oriented theory of constitutional interpretation and systematically analyzing the judicial review of emergency measures during the last pandemic in the United States.

Professor Wiessner also participated as U.S. member in the deliberations of the International Law Association’s Committee on the Implementation of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples at the ILA’s 78th Biennial Meeting in Sydney, Australia.
