Reverend Father Jude O. Ezeanokwasa

Rev. Fr. Dr. Jude O. Ezeanokwasa is an Adjunct Professor of Law at St. Thomas University College of Law, where he teaches Social Justice, Freedom of Religion, and Canon Law. He is also a Reader (Associate Professor) at the Faculty of Law, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra, Nigeria, where he is the Head, Department of Customary and Religious Law, and teaches Environmental Law, Logic and Philosophical Thought, and Legal Research Methodology. As an expert in Canon Law, he is a Judge of the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Miami, with 14 years of experience, and a Judge of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Awka Diocese, Anambra, Nigeria, with 10 years of experience. He is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, Nigeria, where he is a member of the Presbyteral Council, the Chief Chaplain – Laity Council of Nigeria, Catholic Diocese of Awka, as well as a resident priest at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Nawfia, Anambra, Nigeria. He is a Visiting Priest at the Little Flower Parish, Hollywood, Florida since 2020.

He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Customary and Religious Law of Nnamdi Azikiwe University. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Awka Chapter, where he has been a member of the Electoral Committee for four tenures since 2016. In 2021 he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Awka Capital Bar Journal, a Law journal of the NBA, Awka Chapter. He is a member of the Nigerian Association of Catholic Lawyers (NACL). Rev. Fr. Dr. Jude O. Ezeanokwasa is a Principal Partner in the Law Firm, Udoka Chambers, Awka. Further, he is a member, Anambra State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.

Formerly he was a Visiting Priest at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish, Fort Lauderdale (2004-2010), and St. Bernedette Parish, Hollywood, Florida (2019). He was a lecturer at the Advocates Certificate Program of the Metropolitan Tribunal, Archdiocese of Miami, Florida (2010-2013). He was the Acting Dean (2022) and Subdean (2021-2022), Faculty of Law, Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

For his environmental law scholarship, on August 8, 2024, he was invited as a Guest Speaker at the Stakeholders’ Engagement on Waste Management in Anambra State organized by the Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA), and on August 22-23, 2024 he was an invitee at the Town Hall Meeting organized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Anambra State in partnership with African Centre for Leadership Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) and International Peace and Civic Responsibility Centre (IPCRC) on implementing Host Communities’ Provision in the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) in Anambra State.

He obtained the JD Equivalent (LL.B) from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 1998 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2000. He taught Jurisprudence at the St. Pope John Paul II Major Seminary, Awka (2000—2002) before going to Rome, Italy, for further studies. In 2005 he earned Masters in Law (LLM), summa cum Laude, and the Licentiate in Canon Law (JCL), summa cum Laude, from the Pontifical Lateran University, the Vatican. In 2008, also from the Pontifical Lateran University, he bagged the doctorate in Civil Law, Summa Cum Laude, and doctorate in Canon Law (JCD), summa cum laude. He has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Philosophy from the Pontifical Urban University, Rome, Italy, (1984) and Bachelors of Divinity (B.D.) from the same Pontifical Urban University (1989). Rev. Fr. Dr. Jude O. Ezeanokwasa has internationally published scholarly books, book chapters, and many articles to his credit. In August 20017 he received the Priest- of- Excellence Award from the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria, St. Francis of Assisi Parish Chapter, Awka, Anambra State.
