Biscayne College is the school of liberal arts, social sciences, and education at St. Thomas University. Its story reaches back to the University’s founding as Biscayne College in 1961, and its future builds on the aspirations and commitment of highly diverse and motivated students learning from dedicated and enthusiastic faculty who present a curriculum rich in traditional values and innovative content that prepares individuals to thrive within the realities of the 21st century.

We empower students to become leaders who will make a difference. The College offers Bachelor’s degrees in Communications, Criminal Justice, Education, English, Liberal Studies, Political Science, and Psychology; Master’s Degrees in: Criminal Justice, Elementary Education, Educational Leadership, Instructional Design and Technology, Ethical Leadership, Joint degree programs include a JD/MACJ and MSM/Justice Administration, plus Doctoral Degrees in Ethical Leadership, Leadership and Innovation, along with several minors and certificate programs.

Meet Your Dean

Dr. Colin Roche

Dr. Colin Roche is the Dean of Biscayne College for the Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. An award-winning educator, Dean Roche is recognized for his commitment to academic excellence, student engagement, and innovative teaching methodologies. He is an active member of numerous professional organizations and has dedicated his career to advancing knowledge in culinary and hospitality education, tertiary education, and the scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL).

A prolific scholar, Dr. Roche has authored numerous articles and co-authored Culinary Educators’ Teaching Tools & Tips, a comprehensive resource for educators in the field. His expertise extends beyond academia, as he frequently lectures and consults for schools and businesses nationwide, helping to bridge the gap between industry practices and educational instruction. Through his leadership at Biscayne College, Dr. Roche continues to champion interdisciplinary collaboration, experiential learning, and the professional development of both students and faculty.

Passionate about accessible education, Dean Roche leverages digital platforms to reach a broader audience. He hosts a YouTube channel, maintains an educational blog, and produces three educational podcasts, furthering his mission to enhance teaching effectiveness and student success. Dr. Roche also holds numerous prestigious certifications, including the American Culinary Federation’s Certified Executive Chef (CEC) and Certified Culinary Educator (CCE), the National Restaurant Association’s Foodservice Management Professional (FMP), and the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute’s Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE).

Featured Program: B.A. in Organizational Leadership

The Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership degree is a 100% asynchronous and online program designed for working adults who started working on a bachelor’s degree but who never finished. Students take one class at a time every four weeks for core classes. An individual in the BA in Organizational Leadership program may develop a portfolio with which they can receive 27 college credits for life experience.
