Second Annual Fall in Love with Writing Workshop
The STU English Department and The Eye of the Bobcat present their second annual Fall in Love with Writing workshop, located on the second floor of Mimi Dooner Hall.
Fall in Love with Writing is a hands-on generative creative writing workshop made to introduce STU Bobcats to the power and joy of writing. It’s set to take place on October 14 at 12:00 PM on the second floor of Mimi Dooner. Through interactive activities, creative prompts, and guided discussions, students will explore the many benefits of writing, including self-expression, critical thinking, creativity, and personal growth.
“Come ready to write, share, create, and maybe even fall in love with writing,” Professor Zoraida Pastor, organizer of Fall in Love with Writing says. Whether you are an experienced writer or just getting started, this workshop will help you discover your unique voice, build confidence in your ideas, and learn how writing can become a meaningful and rewarding part of your life.
For Professor Pastor and The Eye of the Bobcat, it’s important for students to see writing as more than just another academic assignment. The workshop showcases this powerful art form that urges you to think critically and reflect on your personal growth.
The workshop takes participants from a haiku station to letter poems using stationery and wax, then to a fun, modern spin-the-wheel activity and a Benefits of Writing presentation. Finally, the workshop ends with access to tutoring and career services, connecting multiple aspects of STU.
Students interested in participating are encouraged to bring their creativity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to try something new. Whether it’s journaling, poetry, storytelling, or just wanting to write whatever is on your mind, Fall in Love with Writing is a space for all types of writers to express themselves.
“We want students to leave the workshop feeling more confident in their voices and inspired to continue writing beyond the classroom,” Professor Pastor says.
