Saying Farewell to Father Mac

By May 15, 2015STU News

For almost 46 years, Rev. James MacDougall – affectionately known as Fr. Mac – has been a part of our Bobcat family. Since joining St. Thomas University in August 1969, Fr. Mac has served as Chaplain, Assistant Professor of History and Theology, Tennis Coach and Director of Campus Ministry. Even after his retirement, he remained very involved with student life, often walking over from the Augustinian Monastery to sit in his favorite chair at the library and read the New York Times or talk to students. Father Mac also continued to celebrate mass at the Chapel of Saint Anthony on campus. An Augustinian, Father Mac will be relocating to a parish in his hometown Bronx.

A farewell mass and reception was held on May 14th for Father Mac, which was attended by alumni, faculty and staff.

He has touched the lives of so many students, faculty and staff during his time with us, and we will forever be grateful to him for everything he has done for St. Thomas University. Please join us as we wish Fr. Mac a warm farewell and many blessings on his move to New York.
