St. Thomas University takes over Riptide Festival; raffles off $60,000 scholarship

Mya Jones is a soon to be Bobcat.  Jones and her mother were working at Riptide Festival and prior to their shift they entered a raffle for a once in a lifetime opportunity. That day, Jones was awarded a $60,000 scholarship to attend St. Thomas University.

As the official educational partner, St. Thomas was at the festival ready to showcase its top programs, including its newly launched E-sports.

As part of the booth, STU gave festival goers the opportunity to enter the scholarship raffle and also win exclusive Bobcat gear that included Bobcat Riptide t-shirts, blankets, water bottles and sunglasses and engage with current E-sports players and their coach.

The E-sports players showed off their skills with an on-site demonstration and gaming lounger.

That evening Jones was given the scholarship as part of a special presentation on stage with her mother and STU President Armstrong.
