STU Launches Career Academies at Catholic High Schools This Fall

By July 14, 2015STU News

It is an exciting time to be a student in a Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Miami! Thanks to St. Thomas University’s New Catholic Education Continuum Career Academies, students at several Catholic schools can begin working on their degrees before they graduate from high school. The Catholic Education Continuum, a partnership with Catholic High Schools launched by St. Thomas University, provides a seamless transition of educational excellence and faith formation as the students graduate from their Catholic high school.

The partnership includes the development of Career Academies at each Catholic high school, providing students with the possibility of college degree acceleration and early immersion in their career path. The academies allow students to complete undergraduate and graduate degrees sooner by starting their college coursework in high school. Participating students can earn a Bachelors/Master’s degree in four years or a Bachelors and Law degree in five years. Academies in the areas of Pre-Law, Sports Administration, Hospitality Management, Biology, and Nursing start Fall 2015, with additional academics in the pipeline.

The CEC also includes a full-tuition scholarship to St. Thomas University for a student from each Catholic high school in the tri-county area; eight scholarships were awarded this inaugural year.
