STU Named a Great College to Work For® for Second Consecutive Year
By Bruno Diaz
For the second consecutive year, St. Thomas University (STU) has been recognized as a Great College to Work For®, once again earning Honor Roll distinction and recognition in all 10 categories measured by the National Workplace Survey.
The back-to-back recognition is especially significant because STU was recognized across every category, placing the University among a select group of institutions nationwide to achieve that distinction.
In announcing STU’s results, the Great Colleges to Work For® program noted the strength of the University’s performance, calling recognition across all 10 categories for two years in a row “an extraordinary accomplishment achieved by only a select group of institutions nationwide.”
“Being recognized again across all 10 categories reflects the commitment our faculty and staff bring to St. Thomas University every day,” said Interim President Rev. Rafael Capó, D.Min. “This recognition belongs to our entire University community and speaks to the culture we continue to build together.”
STU was recognized in the following categories:
- Job Satisfaction & Support
- Compensation & Benefits
- Professional Development
- Mission & Pride
- Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness
- Confidence in Senior Leadership
- Faculty & Staff Well-being
- Shared Governance
- Faculty Experience
- Inclusion, Belonging & Community
The program also noted that STU’s consecutive results were particularly meaningful following the University’s return to the survey after many years away, reflecting what it described as a strong and consistent employee experience across the institution.
In 2026, 171 institutions participated in the Great Colleges to Work For® program, including 105 four-year institutions and 66 two-year institutions. Of those, 76 institutions were recognized, including 54 four-year institutions and 22 two-year institutions.
Results are reported by institutional size, with STU included among medium-sized institutions with enrollments between 3,000 and 9,999 students.
The Great Colleges to Work For® recognition is based in large part on feedback from faculty and staff about their workplace experience, including areas such as leadership, professional development, well-being, compensation, institutional mission and community.
For STU, the recognition provides an important measure of consistency and reflects the University’s continued focus on creating a workplace where faculty and staff feel supported, connected to the Mission and valued for the role they play in serving STUdents.
Earning recognition in every category reinforces that commitment and provides another opportunity to celebrate the faculty and staff who contribute to St. Thomas University each day.
