STU students take over Tallahassee to fight for EASE

More than 50 St. Thomas University students climbed on a bus at 1 a.m. to make a trip to Tallahassee and advocate for their right to college choice.

St. Thomas University (STU) is one of 30 private educational institutions in Florida, a part of the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUF). Like the 12 public universities that are part of the State University System in Florida, all ICUF schools are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

“EASE is about giving us choice.”

A part of the Independent Universities and Colleges of Florida organization rally in Tallahassee, STU students joined hundreds

of students from other private institutions across the state to demonstrate to the legislature the importance of EASE to them as students.

The William L. Boyd, IV, Effective Access to Student Education (EASE) Program through the Florida Department of Education  provides tuition assistance to Florida undergraduate students attending eligible private, non-profit Florida colleges or universities. This voucher program is about choice and giving students in Florida the opportunity to find the best educational experience to suit their needs.
