Dade County Bar Association Appoints Two STU Law Alumnae to their Board of Directors

Congratulations to St. Thomas University School of Law alumnae, Suzette Russomanno (2004) & Evelina Libhen (2001) on your appointments to the Dade County Bar Association’s Board of Directors!

Suzette Russomanno has been elected to serve as Secretary for the Dade County Bar Association. Mrs. Russomanno is an associate at Hamilton, Miller & Birthisel’s Miami office. She focuses her practice on commercial litigation, complex tort litigation, construction defect litigation, and medical malpractice defense.

Mrs. Russomanno is a trial attorney who defends companies against claims involving contractual disputes, catastrophic personal injuries involving a wide variety of negligence claims, and wrongful death claims. She has also litigated medical malpractice matters for hospitals, doctors, and other healthcare providers. Mrs. Russomanno has successfully tried cases to verdict, including obtaining favorable verdicts in favor of a Fortune 500 corporate client.

She interned for the Honorable Jose E. Martinez, United States District Court judge for the Southern District of Florida, as well as for the Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney.

Evelina Libhen will serve as a Group Three Director for the Dade County Bar Association. Ms. Libhen has her own practice with a focus on civil litigation, estate planning, incapacity planning, and immigration planning.

She has studied at Merton College in Oxford, having completed a residential program on Intellectual Property Law and Practice, organized by the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford. She received her Juris Doctor form St. Thomas University School of Law.

In 2013, Ms. Libhen was appointed Vice-Chair of the Florida Bar 11th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee where she served a full three-year term. In 2018, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the Dade County Bar Association, the largest voluntary bar association in Florida, founded in the early 1900’s. This will be her third term serving on the Board of Directors for the Dade County Bar Association.
