Center for Ecumenical & Interreligious Dialogue

The Center for Ecumenical & Interreligious Dialogue has its roots in the inter-Christian and interfaith New York Theological Seminary and its Florida Center for Theological Studies offshoot. When the Florida Center’s Divinity program was integrated into St. Thomas’ School of Theology and Ministry in 2010, the Center (also known as Ecumenical Institute) became the vehicle for maintaining and cultivating the broad interfaith consciousness and emphases that characterized the program’s origins.  The Center enjoys a strong working relationship with both the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA and the local MCCJ (Miami Conference of Christians and Jews). It has also participated in numerous interfaith dialogues, worship services and seminars, and has provided opportunities for on-campus ecumenical worship and reflection, and original Greek text-based inter-Christian Bible studies. Additionally the Center has developed an annual O’Neill ecumenical lectureship with student respondents, and most recently, inaugurated an annual interfaith dialogue addressing religious extremism and radicalization.
