Honor Societies

Theta Alpha Kappa

Theta Alpha Kappa is a national honor society established to recognize the achievements of both undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of theology and religious studies. Founded in 1976, Theta Alpha Kappa, now includes over 200 local chapters. It is an affiliated society of the American Academy of Religion and a member of the Association of College Honor Societies.

Alpha Beta Pi

Alpha Beta Pi, the local chapter of St. Thomas University, was founded in 1992. Since then, over 150 undergraduate and graduate students have been inducted as members of Theta Alpha Kappa. Induction requires a nomination by the local chapter, assuring that each inductee has met the following national standards:

• Undergraduates must have completed at least 12 credits of Religious Studies at St. Thomas University. They must have earned a GPA of at least 3.5 in Religious Studies Courses and attained an overall GPA of at least 3.0.
• Graduate Students must have completed at least half of their course work in residence with an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher.
