The Fernandez Family Center

The Fernandez Family Center for Leadership and Wellness is a state of the art 62,000 square foot facility that is home to St. Thomas University’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, Women’s Volleyball team, and the Men’s Wrestling team. The center is equipped with two athletic training rooms, team locker rooms, full size gymnasium for wrestling, volleyball, and basketball, a lounge area, mezzanine level academic classrooms, the eSports Room, a conference room, and Athletic Administration/coaching offices. Additionally, the center is used for intramural sports, university commencement, and special events.

Above the court, is the Dominick Miniaci Mezzanine, which features three classrooms for the Sports Administration program, more athletic coaches’ offices, and the eSports gaming area. The three classrooms can be used as suites for events on the gym floor and have dividers to create one big room. Maximum capacity for the Fernandez Family Center is 2,500.

Parking for the Fernandez Family Center is available, with 283 spots in front; six are reserved for officials and one for the St. Thomas University President.

Mike Fernandez, chairman of MBF Healthcare Partners, donated $3 million to this beautiful new hub of student activity and leadership development. “The creation of a leadership and wellness center will build an unprecedented opportunity for STU. The programs offered there will develop students’ leadership skills, mold their minds, shape their bodies and build their spirits,” says benefactor Mike Fernandez.
